Our Philosophy

Picture
At Globalkids Early Learning Centre we value responsive, reciprocal and respectful relationships within a family centred mixed age group environment aged from 0 to 6 years old.  We promote learning experiences based on interest and stage, not on age, where children can grow and learn together.  The Maori concept of Tuakana-teina, is embraced at Globalkids, where a more experienced child helps and guides a younger or less experienced child within the learning environment.  Our inclusive atmosphere promotes positive working relationships based on trust, love and care.  Globalkids recognises the bicultural partnership of the Treaty of Waitangi and we continue to develop children’s, staff, and whānau knowledge of Te Ao Māori. Globalkids welcomes families/whānau from all diverse backgrounds and cultures.  Sustainable practices can be observed throughout our preschool and are paramount for all of our Globalkids community, where children are able to become caretakers of the environment.
Policies, practices and objectives are regularly reviewed and parents are kept informed during the process of self review.  Parents’ aspirations are proactively sought, valued and respected. We believe in quality early childhood education experiences for all children and advocate primary caregiving principles.  Teachers are committed to on-going professional development and sharing their knowledge with other teachers, parents and whānau.
Teachers plan programmes based on children’s interests, parents’ aspirations, literacy, mathematics, physical and multicultural experiences. Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum is incorporated into all aspects of programme planning, and this is implemented and evaluated.
Our goal is to develop a strong foundation on which children can continue to build, to ensure they grow up as competent, confident independent learners who are able to make a valued contribution to society.

Vision Statement

At Globalkids we would like to develop our Philosophy and team Culture to  be responsive to interests and needs of children and Whanau. Through effective planning and strong positive relationships, we will develop a curriculum that will support the bi-cultural and multicultural nature of Aotearoa.  We would like to enhance systems, procedures and operational knowledge to support sustainability.
